Our Journey

DJ’s Little Acts of Love was created after our personal experience navigating childhood cancer. Our son DJ was diagnosed with metastatic Ewing’s Sarcoma on February 26, 2021. He underwent major surgeries, over 30 rounds of intense chemotherapy, and close to 100 blood transfusions due to the effects chemo had on his little body. He was only 2 years old. In January 2022, the day before he was set to ring the bell signifying he was cancer free, we found out his cancer had returned. Heartbreakingly, DJ earned his wings on September 30th, 2022. Before his battle was won, our sweet son impacted the lives of thousands by doing what he did best, showing love to others and for others. We are honored to show love like DJ. These little acts of love are for him.

Behind Every Child With Cancer Is a Parent with an Empty Cup
Kids gather their strength from their parents. We are their example, their beacon, the weather vane that helps to tell them to know whether the horizon is sunny or stormy. We pour our strength out for them to keep them strong, but it’s so hard to pour from an empty cup. Our mission at DJ’s Little Acts of Love is to offer parents opportunities for self care. Having just a moment to regroup and recharge allows parents to return to their kids refueled and better prepared to serve their kids again.

Did you know that childhood cancers receive less than 4 percent of the federal government’s total funding for cancer research? Less than 4. We learned this during our cancer journey. The 47 families whose child will be diagnosed with childhood cancer today and tomorrow will learn about this hard truth too. Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among children in the United States and our kids deserve more than 4. We are committed to supporting families of childhood cancer, to raising awareness of the disparities in childhood cancer research, and to raising that percentage well above 4 percent.
